Structure Fabricator
A Structure Fabricator is responsible for assembling, fabricating, and installing metal frameworks and structures according to technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. They work primarily with steel, aluminum, and other metals to build components used in construction, manufacturing, and industrial projects. This role requires proficiency in interpreting engineering designs, operating welding and cutting equipment, and ensuring all fabricated structures meet quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble metal parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Weld and join metal components according to required techniques (MIG, TIG, arc welding, etc.).
- Inspect fabricated structures for defects, accuracy, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain and operate fabrication machinery safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other tradespeople to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to minimize risks on the job site.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in metal fabrication and welding.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of various welding techniques and metal fabrication tools.
- Physical stamina and dexterity for handling heavy materials and equipment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., welding certification) are preferred.
