The Rigger (TUV) is responsible for preparing and handling lifting operations, ensuring the safe movement of heavy loads using cranes and rigging gear. The TUV certification confirms the individual’s competence in rigging practices, equipment inspection, and adherence to international safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and select rigging equipment (slings, shackles, hooks, etc.) for lifting operations.
- Read and interpret lifting plans and drawings.
- Set up, adjust, and dismantle rigging equipment safely.
- Coordinate with crane operators and signalers to safely lift, move, and position loads.
- Ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations and standards.
- Maintain rigging logs and inspection records.
- Report defective or damaged lifting equipment and take corrective action.
- Support team in heavy lifting tasks in industrial settings like construction, oil & gas, or shipyards.
Requirements:
- TUV Certified Rigger – Level 1, 2, or 3, depending on job requirements.
- At least 2–5 years of hands-on rigging experience.
- Strong understanding of lifting and rigging principles.
- Familiarity with OSHA, LOLER, or other regional safety standards.
- Ability to read and understand load charts, rigging plans, and lift studies.
- Physically fit and capable of working in demanding environments (offshore, heights, etc.).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with offshore lifting operations.
- Valid offshore survival and medical certificates (e.g., BOSIET, HUET).
- Forklift, crane, or heavy equipment licenses (a plus).
