Job Description:
The Pile Driving Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating cranes used to drive piles—long columns typically made of steel, concrete, or wood—into the ground to support the foundations of buildings and other structures. This role involves precision, awareness of safety procedures, and collaboration with ground crew members
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate crane and pile driving equipment to install piles at construction sites.
- Interpret and follow blueprints, specifications, and site layouts.
- Monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure crane is operating properly.
- Position piles accurately using rigging signals or communication from the ground crew.
- Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance on crane and equipment.
- Comply with safety regulations and report any hazards or malfunctions.
- Coordinate movements with signal persons and other construction professionals.
- Maintain documentation of work performed and equipment logs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating cranes, especially with pile-driving attachments.
- Valid crane operator certification (e.g., NCCCO or equivalent, depending on region).
- Understanding of construction drawings and site layout plans.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
