Lathe Machine Operators

The Lathe Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining lathe machines to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, facing, and threading on metal or plastic parts. The role ensures precision and quality in manufacturing components according to technical drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate conventional or CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathes to machine metal or plastic workpieces.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
• Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Adjust machine settings and tool positions for optimal performance and product quality.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and work areas.
• Monitor production processes and troubleshoot issues with machines or tooling.
• Maintain production logs and reports accurately.
• Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate with other operators, machinists, and quality control staff to meet production goals.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (technical/vocational training preferred).
• Proven experience as a lathe operator or machinist.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and use precision measurement tools.
• Knowledge of machining techniques, materials, and tool selection.
• Familiarity with CNC lathe programming (if applicable).
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity.
