OPD Nurse (Outpatient Department Nurse)
Job Summary:
The OPD Nurse provides nursing care to patients in the outpatient department, assisting doctors during examinations, administering treatments, and ensuring smooth patient flow. The role involves clinical and administrative tasks to support high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, ambulatory setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians during consultations, minor procedures, and treatments.
- Take and record vital signs, patient histories, and medical complaints.
- Prepare patients for examination and ensure comfort throughout the visit.
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient records.
- Monitor and report any changes in patients’ condition to the physician.
- Educate patients on health maintenance, prescribed treatments, and medications.
- Ensure infection control standards and cleanliness are maintained in the OPD.
- Manage patient flow and appointment scheduling efficiently.
- Coordinate with other departments and handle patient referrals when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing (GNM/BSc Nursing).
- Registered Nurse with local nursing council.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in an OPD or similar setting preferred.
- Basic knowledge of clinical procedures and healthcare protocols.
- Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with professionalism and empathy.
Working Conditions:
- Based in a hospital or clinic outpatient department.
- May require extended hours or shifts, depending on patient load.
- Regular interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
