An MEP Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems in building construction projects. This role ensures that systems are integrated, sustainable, and in compliance with local codes, client specifications, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Planning:
- Prepare and review MEP designs using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
- Coordinate mechanical (HVAC), electrical (lighting, power), and plumbing (water supply, drainage, fire protection) system designs.
- Ensure energy-efficient and sustainable system designs in accordance with green building standards (e.g., LEED).
- Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines during design and construction phases.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and ensure alignment with design intent and specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to monitor progress and resolve technical issues.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and international standards.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, calculations, and documentation for approvals.
- Assist with commissioning and handover of systems post-construction.
- Problem Solving & Support:
- Troubleshoot MEP system issues during construction and operation phases.
- Provide technical support and guidance to on-site engineers and contractors.
