Employment Information

The Gate Barrier Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated gate barrier systems, including access control interfaces, motors, sensors, and control panels. The technician ensures that all systems operate efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and maintaining site security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and commission automated gate barrier systems and associated access control components (e.g., card readers, RFID, loop detectors, safety photocells).
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on gate barriers and access control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical/mechanical faults in barrier systems, motors, and control panels.
  • Test and verify system functionality post-installation or repair.
  • Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, and part replacements.
  • Assist in diagnosing network or software-related issues in integrated access control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes.
  • Provide on-call emergency repair services when needed.
  • Collaborate with security teams, facility managers, or contractors for site assessments or new installations.
  • Recommend system upgrades or improvements based on wear, performance, or new technology.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or certification in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in gate barrier systems or similar electromechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of access control systems and basic networking.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with tools and diagnostic instruments used for maintenance and repair.
  • Valid driver’s license (if fieldwork is involved).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with systems from brands such as FAAC, BFT, NICE, CAME, or similar.
  • Basic programming knowledge for configuring control panels or access software.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Working Conditions:

  • May involve working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work for emergency repairs or installations.
  • Must follow all company safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
