Employment Information

The Lathe Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating lathe machines to produce precision metal parts. This role involves reading blueprints, selecting appropriate tools, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of machined components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual or CNC lathe machines to perform tasks such as drilling, turning, facing, and threading.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining operations.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust settings to ensure proper function.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Record production output and maintain accurate job documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a lathe machine operator (manual or CNC).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques, materials, and tools.
  • Familiarity with measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
