Ground Maintenance Supervisor

The Ground Maintenance Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily activities of ground maintenance crews to ensure that landscaping, lawn care, and outdoor facility maintenance are performed efficiently, safely, and to high standards. This role involves scheduling, training, quality assurance, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and lead ground maintenance staff in daily operations including mowing, trimming, planting, irrigation, pest control, and debris removal.
• Develop work schedules and assign tasks to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
• Inspect outdoor areas and landscaping to ensure cleanliness, health, and visual appeal.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and irrigation systems.
• Train new and current employees on proper equipment use, safety procedures, and maintenance standards.
• Maintain records of maintenance work, inspections, materials, and supplies used.
• Assist in budgeting for grounds equipment and supplies; submit purchase requests.
• Ensure all groundskeeping activities comply with safety, environmental, and company policies.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and weather-related emergencies.
• Coordinate with other departments or contractors as needed for larger landscaping or repair projects.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in landscaping or horticulture preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in groundskeeping or landscape maintenance, including supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of turf management, plant care, irrigation systems, and pest control.
• Ability to operate and maintain a variety of landscaping equipment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL may be required depending on equipment usage.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift heavy objects.
