Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Generator Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair generator systems, including diesel and gas-powered generators. The ideal candidate should have strong mechanical and electrical expertise, with a commitment to safety and quality service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on standby and portable generators.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues and perform repairs.
• Install new generator systems and integrate them with building power systems.
• Conduct load tests, oil changes, coolant flushes, and battery inspections.
• Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, and parts used.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Provide emergency repair services during power outages or generator failure.
• Coordinate with other technicians, electricians, and contractors as needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED; technical training or certification in generator systems preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in generator maintenance and repair (Cummins, CAT, Kohler, etc.).
• Knowledge of diesel and gas engine systems, electrical circuitry, and control panels.
• Familiarity with automatic transfer switches (ATS) and load bank testing.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• OSHA or other safety certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor and emergency settings.
