Fire Alarm Technician

A Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. They ensure all systems are in compliance with fire codes, safety regulations, and manufacturer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and program fire alarm systems, including control panels, smoke detectors, heat detectors, notification devices, and related components.
• Conduct regular testing and inspections in accordance with NFPA 72, local codes, and AHJ requirements.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning fire alarm systems and devices.
• Perform preventative maintenance and system upgrades as needed.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to ensure proper system layout and installation.
• Complete accurate documentation, including inspection reports, service tickets, and compliance forms.
• Collaborate with contractors, electricians, and other trades during system installations or renovations.
• Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and company policies.
• Provide customer training and support on fire alarm system operation.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or certification is a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with fire alarm systems (installation, testing, maintenance).
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems (e.g., Honeywell, Notifier, Siemens, Simplex, Bosch, etc.).
• Familiarity with local and national fire codes (e.g., NFPA 70, NFPA 72).
• NICET certification (Level I or higher) preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
