An Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. The role requires technical knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and safety procedures, with the ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices.
- Interpret electrical drawings, plans, and wiring diagrams.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure reliable system operation.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other technicians to complete projects efficiently.
- Record maintenance and repair work and update logs and reports.
- Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical diploma or associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Technician or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.
- Experience with PLCs, motor controls, and industrial automation is a plus.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments (e.g., heights, confined spaces).
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Certification or license as required by local regulations (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Red Seal, etc.).
