The Electrical Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of electricians and electrical laborers on construction or maintenance projects. This role ensures all electrical work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct daily activities of electricians and apprentices on-site.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, and specifications.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project timelines and report progress to management.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards or defects.
- Order materials and maintain inventory of electrical supplies.
- Train and mentor junior staff and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Complete required documentation, including daily logs, reports, and inspection records.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
- Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician License (varies by location).
- 5+ years of electrical experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems and safety regulations (e.g., NEC).
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in using tools, test equipment, and software related to the trade.
