Electrical Foreman Job Description
An Electrical Foreman is a skilled professional responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work of electricians on construction sites, industrial facilities, or maintenance projects. They ensure that all electrical systems are installed or maintained according to safety codes, project specifications, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of electricians and electrical helpers.
- Assign tasks and monitor work progress to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Provide training and guidance to less experienced workers.
- Project Management:
- Review blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
- Plan electrical installations and ensure resources (tools, materials, labor) are available.
- Coordinate with other trades and contractors to avoid project conflicts.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), local building codes, and safety regulations.
- Enforce site safety practices and conduct safety briefings.
- Inspect completed work for quality and adherence to standards.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues quickly and effectively.
- Perform inspections and testing of electrical systems and equipment.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain records of materials used, labor hours, and project progress.
- Report issues, delays, or incidents to project managers or engineers.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal electrical apprenticeship program.
- Several years of experience as a journeyman electrician.
- Certifications:
- Valid electrician license (as required by local jurisdiction).
- OSHA or other relevant safety training is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, tools, and safety protocols.
