Concrete Pump Operator – Job Description
A Concrete Pump Operator is a skilled construction professional responsible for operating a concrete pump to place concrete at construction sites. Their role is vital in ensuring concrete is delivered efficiently and safely to hard-to-reach areas during various construction projects such as buildings, bridges, and roadways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate truck-mounted or trailer-mounted concrete pumps to pour concrete at construction sites.
- Maneuver the boom or placing hose to direct concrete to specified locations.
- Coordinate with site supervisors and other workers to ensure accurate concrete placement.
- Set up and inspect equipment prior to operation to ensure safety and performance.
- Maintain equipment by performing routine checks, cleaning, and reporting any malfunctions or damage.
- Comply with site safety protocols and government regulations.
- Monitor the concrete pumping process and adjust operations to ensure consistent flow.
- Transport pump truck to and from job sites.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience operating concrete pumps or heavy equipment (training may be provided for entry-level).
- Knowledge of concrete types, properties, and pumping techniques.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and hazard recognition.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle equipment and hoses.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and job environments.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL often preferred or required).
- Good communication skills to work as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor construction sites.
