AutoCAD Technician An AutoCAD Technician uses computer-aided design (CAD) software to create technical drawings and plans for buildings, machinery, or other structures. They work closely with engineers, architects, and designers to convert concepts and specifications into precise drawings used for construction, manufacturing, or product development.
Key Responsibilities:
Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD software.
Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications from engineers or architects.
Revise drawings based on feedback or changes to designs.
Maintain project drawing files, track revisions, and ensure version control.
Collaborate with engineering or design teams to resolve design issues.
Ensure drawings comply with industry and company standards.
Conduct site visits or assist with project measurements when necessary.
Prepare documentation for permitting or manufacturing, including layouts, schematics, and as-built drawings.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and related CAD software (e.g., Revit, Civil 3D, or SolidWorks, if applicable).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Understanding of technical drawing standards and conventions.
Good communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of industry-specific design principles (e.g., architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical).
Education and Experience:
Associate degree, diploma, or certification in drafting, CAD technology, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in a drafting or AutoCAD technician role preferred.
Familiarity with BIM, GIS, or other technical tools
