Job Title: Safety Officer
Job Summary:
The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by implementing health and safety policies, conducting regular inspections, training staff, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations. This role plays a key part in minimizing risk and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports.
- Provide safety training and education programs for employees.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training.
- Coordinate emergency response and preparedness plans.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure all required safety documentation is current.
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) is an asset.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in [industry type – e.g., construction, manufacturing, oil and gas].
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment:
