Job Title: Safety Officer

Job Summary:

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by implementing health and safety policies, conducting regular inspections, training staff, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations. This role plays a key part in minimizing risk and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports.
• Provide safety training and education programs for employees.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training.
• Coordinate emergency response and preparedness plans.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure all required safety documentation is current.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
• Certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) is an asset.
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in [industry type – e.g., construction, manufacturing, oil and gas].
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Work Environment:

• This role may involve working in office and/or field environments.

• Occasional travel may be required depending on site locations.
