Assistant Cook
Job Summary:
The Assistant Cook supports the Head Cook or Chef in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food. They assist with kitchen duties such as food prep, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards are met. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for cooking and a desire to grow in a kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring.
- Help cook meals according to the menu and chef’s direction.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas.
- Follow food hygiene and safety standards at all times.
- Store food properly and monitor stock levels.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Support kitchen staff during busy periods.
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous kitchen experience is a plus but not required.
