Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Engineer – Civil
Job Summary:
The QC Engineer – Civil is responsible for ensuring that all civil engineering construction activities comply with established quality standards, specifications, and project requirements. This role involves monitoring construction processes, conducting inspections, testing materials, and coordinating with project teams to maintain quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures specific to civil engineering works.
- Inspect and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Conduct material testing (soil, concrete, asphalt, etc.) either on-site or through third-party laboratories.
- Review and approve quality-related documentation including test reports, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports.
- Identify, document, and report any quality issues or deviations and coordinate corrective actions with project management and contractors.
- Coordinate with design engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve quality-related issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality inspections, tests, and compliance reports.
- Participate in audits and support external inspections by clients or regulatory authorities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to quality assurance.
- Train and guide site staff on quality control procedures and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in quality control for civil construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering materials, construction methods, and quality standards.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (ASTM, ACI, ISO, local building codes).
- Experience with material testing procedures and interpreting test results.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise reports and documentation.
- Certification in Quality Management (like ISO 9001) or specific QC certifications is a plus.
