Planning Engineer Job Description
Position Summary:
A Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining project schedules, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget. They coordinate with project teams to track progress, identify potential delays, and provide solutions to keep projects on track.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed project schedules using planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather project data and define timelines.
- Monitor project progress and update schedules regularly to reflect actual status.
- Identify potential risks or delays and propose corrective actions to management.
- Prepare and present progress reports, forecasts, and project status updates.
- Assist in resource allocation and optimize scheduling to improve productivity.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and contract requirements.
- Support cost control and budgeting activities related to project timelines.
- Collaborate with procurement, construction, and engineering teams to align schedules.
- Facilitate meetings and communicate schedule changes to all relevant parties.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Planning Engineer or in project scheduling.
- Proficiency with scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of project management principles and construction processes.
