Diesel Mechanic

A Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, repair, maintenance, and overhaul of diesel engines and related mechanical components in vehicles and equipment. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of trucks, buses, heavy machinery, and other diesel-powered equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems in diesel engines.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and brake inspections.
• Repair or replace worn or defective parts such as bearings, pistons, and gears.
• Conduct engine overhauls and rebuilds when necessary.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to assess engine and system performance.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and service history.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with other team members and provide support as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED (technical certification or associate’s degree preferred).
• 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or in a related field.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and components.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL may be required, depending on the employer).
• ASE certification (preferred or required by some employers).
