Job Summary:
The Chargehand Maintenance is responsible for supervising and performing maintenance activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment, machinery, and facilities. This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities, coordinating a team of technicians and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of maintenance technicians and workers.
- Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Allocate tasks and monitor work progress to ensure timely and quality completion.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or recommend solutions for complex technical problems.
- Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, equipment logs, and spare parts inventory.
- Liaise with other departments (e.g., production, facilities) to minimize downtime and disruption.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to junior staff.
- Report any major breakdowns or unsafe conditions to the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager.
- Assist in planning maintenance schedules and improving maintenance processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Technical diploma or trade certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a maintenance environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or senior technician role.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance tools, machinery, and systems.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
