The Housing Driver is responsible for transporting residents, clients, or goods related to housing services in a safe, reliable, and courteous manner. This role supports the overall operations of a housing facility or program by ensuring timely and secure transportation between housing units, service centres, appointments, or supply locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate assigned vehicle(s) to transport residents, clients, or materials.
- Assist with moving personal belongings or supplies into or out of housing units.
- Maintain accurate trip records, including mileage, destinations, and passenger logs.
- Ensure the cleanliness, maintenance, and fuelling of the vehicle.
- Follow all traffic laws and organizational safety procedures.
- Provide courteous and respectful service to all passengers.
- Communicate with housing coordinators or supervisors about schedules, delays, or incidents.
- Assist residents with mobility issues or special needs when entering or exiting the vehicle.
- Report any vehicle issues or incidents promptly.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with clients or residents.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in a similar driving or transport role preferred.
- Ability to lift and move items as needed (may require lifting up to 50 lbs).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of local streets and routes.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if needed.
- CPR/First Aid certification may be a plus (depending on role).
