Employment Information

The Housing Driver is responsible for transporting residents, clients, or goods related to housing services in a safe, reliable, and courteous manner. This role supports the overall operations of a housing facility or program by ensuring timely and secure transportation between housing units, service centres, appointments, or supply locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate assigned vehicle(s) to transport residents, clients, or materials.
  • Assist with moving personal belongings or supplies into or out of housing units.
  • Maintain accurate trip records, including mileage, destinations, and passenger logs.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, maintenance, and fuelling of the vehicle.
  • Follow all traffic laws and organizational safety procedures.
  • Provide courteous and respectful service to all passengers.
  • Communicate with housing coordinators or supervisors about schedules, delays, or incidents.
  • Assist residents with mobility issues or special needs when entering or exiting the vehicle.
  • Report any vehicle issues or incidents promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with clients or residents.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience in a similar driving or transport role preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move items as needed (may require lifting up to 50 lbs).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local streets and routes.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if needed.
  • CPR/First Aid certification may be a plus (depending on role).
