Auto Electrician Job Description
An Auto Electrician specializes in installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing electrical systems and components in vehicles. This role is critical in modern automotive repair, especially with the increasing complexity of vehicle electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose electrical faults using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Install and repair wiring, lighting systems, alarms, and other electrical components in vehicles.
- Service and replace batteries, alternators, starters, and fuses.
- Repair or replace electronic control units (ECUs) and vehicle computer systems.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle electrical systems to ensure they function correctly and safely.
- Install aftermarket accessories, such as GPS units, sound systems, and reverse cameras.
- Collaborate with mechanics and service advisors to accurately assess electrical issues.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Trade certification or diploma in Automotive Electrical Technology.
- Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems and circuit diagrams.
- Experience using diagnostic tools and software (e.g., OBD scanners).
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety standards and compliance regulations.
