The Welding Supervisor oversees and coordinates the activities of welders and fabricators to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety in welding operations. This role involves supervising welding processes, ensuring compliance with welding codes and standards, training welders, and optimizing workflow to meet production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily welding operations and assign tasks to welders and fitters.
- Inspect welds and ensure compliance with specifications, codes (e.g., ASME, AWS), and quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding procedures.
- Ensure proper use of welding machines, tools, and equipment.
- Monitor production timelines and resolve any workflow or quality issues.
- Enforce safety procedures and ensure all work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct training and evaluations for new and existing welding staff.
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
- Coordinate with engineering, quality assurance, and project management teams.
- Recommend improvements to processes, procedures, and equipment for efficiency and quality enhancement.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (technical/vocational training preferred).
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification is an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in welding, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.) and safety practices.
- Familiarity with industry standards (AWS, ASME, ISO).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
