Job Summary:

The QA/QC Piping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance and quality control activities related to piping systems during fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning stages of a project. This role ensures compliance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, etc.), and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and monitor piping inspection activities, including fit-up, welding, hydrostatic testing, flushing, and reinstatement.
  • Review and ensure the implementation of ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans), WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), PQRs (Procedure Qualification Records), and WPQs (Welder Performance Qualifications).
  • Conduct internal inspections and ensure timely rectification of non-conformances (NCRs).
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and third-party inspectors for all QA/QC activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of welding logs, test packs, pressure tests, and inspection reports.
  • Ensure that materials and consumables are properly identified and conform to project requirements.
  • Participate in pre-inspection meetings and site walk-downs.
  • Support the development of punch lists and monitor corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance to site personnel on quality-related issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation and handover of QA/QC dossiers and As-Built records.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI/CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2) preferred.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or construction industries.
  • Sound knowledge of piping materials, welding processes, NDT techniques, and international codes/standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, B31.1, API 570).
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC documentation and procedures.
  • Proficient in reading piping isometrics, P&IDs, and construction drawings.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with project management systems and quality software tools is an advantage.
