Job Summary:
A Mechanical Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans for mechanical systems, machinery, and components using CAD software. They collaborate with engineers and production teams to ensure that designs are accurate and meet industry standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Review and interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and calculations.
- Modify and revise existing drawings based on engineering changes or project updates.
- Ensure drawings comply with company standards, safety regulations, and industry codes.
- Coordinate with engineers and other team members to resolve design and production issues.
- Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and documentation.
- Assist in preparing bills of materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience as a mechanical draftsman or in a similar role.
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Good understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO).
- Experience in sheet metal, piping, HVAC, or machine design (depending on industry).
