Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical/Piping Engineer to oversee the design, engineering, and execution of mechanical and piping systems for industrial projects. This role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring that all mechanical/piping work complies with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical and piping engineering scope of work for major projects from conceptual design through construction and commissioning.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, datasheets, material requisitions, and engineering calculations.
- Develop and manage piping layouts, isometric drawings, and support designs using 3D modeling tools (e.g., PDMS, E3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D).
- Coordinate with process, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and procurement teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Oversee the preparation of equipment lists and interface with vendors for mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, heat exchangers).
- Ensure compliance with industry codes (ASME, API, ANSI, etc.) and client-specific standards.
- Conduct site visits, support field engineering, and resolve technical issues during construction.
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanical and piping engineers and designers.
- Monitor and control project budgets, schedules, and deliverables for mechanical and piping work.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and client meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a lead role on large-scale industrial projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent registration preferred.
- Proficient in engineering software such as Caesar II, Navisworks, AutoPIPE, and CAD/3D modeling tools.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, piping design, stress analysis, and materials selection.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, or similar heavy industries.
- Familiarity with international codes and standards (ASME B31.3, API 610, API 650, etc.).
- Working knowledge of procurement and construction processes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
