PTW Coordinator (Piping / Mechanical / Rigging / E&I)
Job Summary:
The PTW (Permit to Work) Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the safe issuance, tracking, and closure of work permits for all activities related to Piping, Mechanical, Rigging, and E&I scopes. This position ensures that all jobs are executed in compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Permit Coordination & Management:
- Review and process work permits (Hot Work, Cold Work, Confined Space, Electrical, etc.).
- Ensure that permits are completed accurately and approved before work commences.
- Track daily permit issuance, status, and closure; maintain permit log/register.
- Conduct site verification prior to permit approval and during execution, as needed.
- HSE Compliance:
- Ensure all work activities comply with HSE policies and procedures.
- Verify the implementation of control measures and risk assessments (JSA, TRA).
- Monitor compliance with isolation procedures, especially for electrical and mechanical works.
- Participate in toolbox talks and site safety walks.
- Scope-Specific Support:
- Piping/Mechanical: Verify pressure testing, bolt torqueing, valve installation, hydrotesting, flange management, etc.
- Rigging: Ensure safe lifting plans are in place; verify crane setup, load testing, and rigging gear certification.
- E&I: Confirm lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures, cable pulling, termination, loop checks, and instrument calibration activities are permitted safely.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Liaise with area authorities, supervisors, engineers, and HSE teams to coordinate permit approval and execution.
- Coordinate permit activities across multiple disciplines to avoid conflict and ensure efficiency.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all permits and associated documentation.
- Assist with audits, incident investigations, and permit compliance reviews.
Qualifications:
- Technical Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation preferred).
- PTW or HSE certification is a plus (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, or company-specific PTW training).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar PTW role in oil & gas, construction, or industrial projects.
- Familiarity with international safety standards (OSHA, API, ASME, IEC, etc.).
- Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, electrical SLDs, rigging plans, etc.
