A PTW (Permit to Work) Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the Permit to Work system in industrial or high-risk work environments such as oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, or energy sectors. The role ensures that all work carried out under a permit is safe, properly planned, and compliant with legal and organizational safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and Coordinate PTW System:
Issue, review, and close work permits (Hot Work, Cold Work, Confined Space Entry, Electrical, Excavation, etc.) in line with company procedures. - Compliance Monitoring:
Ensure all work activities requiring permits are carried out safely and in compliance with local regulations and company standards. - Permit Verification:
Verify the scope of work, isolation requirements, risk assessments, and safety precautions before issuing permits. - Daily Coordination:
Liaise with supervisors, HSE officers, and other relevant personnel to coordinate the approval and execution of permits. - Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all issued and closed permits, including supporting documents like Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Method Statements, and Risk Assessments. - Training & Awareness:
Provide guidance and training on PTW procedures to workers and contractors as needed. - Auditing & Reporting:
Participate in or conduct internal audits of the PTW system. Report any deviations or incidents related to PTW compliance.
Requirements:
- Education:
Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field. - Certifications (preferred):
NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or any recognized HSE/PTW training. - Experience:
3–5 years of experience in a similar role in a high-risk industry (e.g., Oil & Gas, Construction, Energy). - Skills:
- Strong understanding of PTW systems and regulatory requirements
