PMC Engineer – Mechanical/Piping
The PMC Mechanical/Piping Engineer is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the successful planning, execution, and quality of mechanical and piping engineering activities in large-scale industrial, oil & gas, petrochemical, or infrastructure projects. The role acts as a key liaison between the client, EPC contractor(s), vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met in terms of schedule, cost, and technical compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and approve mechanical and piping engineering deliverables from EPC contractors, including P&IDs, piping layouts, isometrics, material specifications, and datasheets.
- Ensure all mechanical and piping systems comply with project specifications, international codes, standards (ASME, API, ASTM, etc.), and client requirements.
- Monitor and control mechanical and piping scope progress and quality, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budgets.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, model reviews, and constructability assessments.
- Coordinate with procurement to review vendor documents and ensure timely approval of mechanical/piping packages.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure seamless project integration.
- Attend site meetings, inspect fabrication shops and construction sites to verify compliance with approved engineering and safety practices.
- Identify and resolve technical issues in collaboration with contractors and stakeholders.
- Support risk assessments and project change management related to mechanical and piping engineering scope.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 8–15 years of experience in mechanical and piping design/engineering in EPC or PMC roles, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industry projects.
- In-depth knowledge of piping design, pipe stress analysis, materials selection, and fabrication/construction techniques.
- Strong understanding of engineering software such as CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, SmartPlant, PDMS, or similar.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills for client and contractor interface.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with project life cycle stages and PMC responsibilities.
