Plumber Job Description
A plumber installs, maintains, and repairs piping systems, fixtures, and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution and wastewater disposal in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Plumbers interpret blueprints and building codes, inspect systems, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. They are skilled in working with a variety of tools and materials, including copper, PVC, and galvanized pipes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures (sinks, toilets, water heaters, etc.)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes
- Ensure systems comply with local plumbing codes and safety regulations
- Respond to plumbing emergencies and service calls
- Collaborate with contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
- Familiarity with local plumbing codes

- Physical stamina and dexterity
- High school diploma or equivalent
