Employment Information

A Truck Driver is responsible for transporting goods from one location to another using heavy-duty vehicles, such as tractor-trailers or delivery trucks. They ensure timely delivery while adhering to safety and traffic regulations, maintaining vehicle condition, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and drive long-haul or short-haul trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • Plan delivery routes and meet delivery schedules.
  • Secure cargo properly and ensure loads comply with weight limits and safety standards.
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues; perform preventative maintenance when needed.
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations to appropriate parties.
  • Maintain accurate driving logs, delivery records, and other required documentation.
  • Adhere to company and industry safety protocols, including Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
  • Interact professionally with customers during pickups and deliveries.

Requirements:

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL); Class A or B, depending on vehicle type.
  • Clean driving record with a strong understanding of road safety rules.
  • Proven experience as a truck driver (preferred but not always required).
  • Physical fitness and ability to load/unload cargo as needed.
  • Familiarity with GPS devices and electronic logging systems.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility.

Work Conditions:

  • Long hours on the road; overnight or cross-country trips may be required.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Time spent sitting for long periods while driving.
