Piping Supervisor – Job Description
Position Summary:
The Piping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all piping activities at the construction site, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards. This role involves coordinating with engineers, contractors, and other supervisors to manage manpower, materials, and timelines for piping installations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the installation, testing, and commissioning of piping systems (process, utility, HVAC, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to piping design specifications, isometric drawings, and relevant codes (ASME, API, etc.).
- Monitor daily work progress, quality, and productivity of pipefitters and subcontractors.
- Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and safety standards.
- Coordinate with project managers, QA/QC, HSE officers, and other discipline leads to ensure seamless project execution.
- Plan and manage material availability, tools, and equipment for uninterrupted workflow.
- Prepare daily progress reports, resource usage, and other site documentation.
- Enforce site safety procedures and ensure a safe work environment.
- Assist in resolving technical and execution issues on site.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in piping construction supervision, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or industrial projects.
- In-depth knowledge of piping systems, materials, installation techniques, and relevant codes/standards.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, and GA drawings.
- Familiarity with welding processes, hydrotesting, and NDT requirements is an advantage.
- HSE awareness and certification (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) is a plus.
