A Piping Foreman is a skilled supervisor in construction or industrial settings, primarily responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems. This role is critical in projects involving plumbing, HVAC, oil & gas, petrochemical plants, refineries, and other infrastructure requiring complex piping networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of pipefitters, welders, and laborers involved in piping installations.
- Interpret and execute construction drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and isometric piping layouts.
- Ensure piping work complies with industry codes (e.g., ASME, API), project specifications, and safety regulations.
- Plan daily work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor progress to meet project deadlines.
- Inspect materials, tools, and equipment to ensure availability and proper usage.
- Conduct site inspections and quality checks to detect and resolve issues promptly.
- Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow.
- Maintain accurate records of work progress, personnel, materials used, and daily reports.
- Promote and enforce site safety protocols and ensure team compliance with health and safety standards.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) as a pipefitter or welder, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, welding procedures, and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Good leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- High school diploma or technical certification (preferred in mechanical or construction trades).
- Familiarity with safety practices and OSHA or equivalent regulations
Work Environment:
- Typically works on construction sites, industrial facilities, or shipyards.
- May involve exposure to noise, heat, heavy equipment, and working at heights.
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following strict safety procedures.
