Job Summary:

The Mechanical Supervisor oversees the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment. This role ensures work is carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The supervisor leads a team of technicians or mechanics, coordinates daily tasks, and monitors work quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate mechanical maintenance and repair activities on-site.
  • Allocate tasks to maintenance staff and ensure proper execution of jobs.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of mechanical systems or machinery.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical equipment, diagnosing faults and overseeing repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Schedule preventive and corrective maintenance to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Maintain records of maintenance work, inspections, and spare parts usage.
  • Provide technical guidance to mechanical technicians and junior staff.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., electrical, operations, planning) to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, maintenance plans, and procurement of parts and tools.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.

Requirements:

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of mechanical maintenance experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, compressors, etc.
    • Leadership and team management skills.
    • Problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
    • Good communication and organizational abilities.
    • Knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) and mechanical codes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications (e.g., HVAC, welding, mechanical safety).
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Background in a specific industry (e.g., oil & gas, manufacturing, power generation).
