Instrument Helper
An Instrument Helper assists Instrument Fitters and technicians in the installation, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation and control systems in industrial environments such as oil & gas facilities, refineries, chemical plants, and manufacturing operations. This entry-level role supports the safe and efficient setup of equipment used to monitor and control process variables like pressure, temperature, level, and flow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation and assembly of instrumentation and control systems under supervision.
- Help measure, cut, and install tubing and small-bore piping for pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Prepare tools, materials, and work areas as directed by the Instrument Fitter or supervisor.
- Support the routing and mounting of cables, tubing, and instruments.
- Clean and maintain instruments, tools, and workspaces.
- Transport equipment and materials to and from job sites.
- Learn to interpret basic drawings, datasheets, and diagrams.
- Follow all safety procedures and site regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical tools.
- Willingness to learn about instrumentation systems and components.
- Physically fit and able to work in industrial environments (e.g., confined spaces, heights, varying weather).
- Ability to take direction and work as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Previous industrial or construction experience is an asset but not required.
