Position Overview:
The HVAC Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the HVAC crew on construction or maintenance job sites. This includes installing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The Foreman ensures projects are completed on time,
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of HVAC technicians and installers.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures.
- Coordinate work schedules and assign tasks to crew members.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and codes.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and quality of work.
- Manage materials, tools, and equipment needed for the job.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow.
- Provide training and mentoring to junior staff and apprentices.
- Troubleshoot HVAC systems and oversee repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and timekeeping.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; trade school or HVAC certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the HVAC field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, installation, and service procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Valid HVAC license (as required by state/local regulations).
- EPA Certification (Type I and II or Universal).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed at construction sites or mechanical rooms, often outdoors or in confined spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work at heights or in varying temperatures.
- Occasional travel to different job sites may be required.
