The Estimation Manager is responsible for leading the cost estimation and budgeting process for projects, ensuring that bids and proposals are accurate, competitive, and profitable. This role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and clients to develop detailed cost estimates based on project requirements, technical specifications, and market conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the estimation team to develop accurate and timely cost estimates for new and ongoing projects.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to prepare detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Develop and maintain cost databases and estimation tools to support consistent pricing and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with other departments (engineering, procurement, finance) to ensure all project components are accounted for in the estimate.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes and incorporate competitive pricing into the final estimate.
  • Prepare bid proposals and tender documentation for submission to clients or stakeholders.
  • Analyze risk factors and provide recommendations for risk mitigation in pricing strategies.
  • Review post-project performance to compare estimated vs. actual costs and refine estimation processes accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and client requirements in all estimates and proposals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cost estimation, project management, or quantity surveying (experience requirements may vary).
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., CostX, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or MS Excel).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates/projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, market prices, and construction methods (for construction-related roles).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP).
  • Experience in specific sectors (e.g., civil infrastructure, electrical systems, IT systems) depending on the company.
