Structural/ Pipe Fitter

Summary:

A Structural / Pipe Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems and structural frameworks in accordance with blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. This role is critical in industrial, marine, and construction environments to ensure the integrity and safety of piping systems and support structures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and piping isometrics.
• Cut, thread, bend, and weld pipes and metal components using hand and power tools.
• Align and fit pipes, valves, fittings, and structural components with precision.
• Install pipe systems including supports, hangers, and hydraulic/pneumatic connections.
• Assemble structural frameworks using bolts, welding, or rivets.
• Test piping systems for leaks using air and hydrostatic pressure gauges.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards, codes, and project specifications.
• Collaborate with welders, engineers, and other trades to complete tasks efficiently.
• Inspect finished installations for quality and durability.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and functional state.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a structural fitter and/or pipe fitter.
• Strong knowledge of materials, piping systems, and structural components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.
• Proficiency with cutting, threading, grinding, and welding tools.
• Familiarity with relevant safety practices and OSHA regulations.
• Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces.
• Certifications such as NCCER, OSHA, or welding tickets (preferred).

• Work in various positions including standing, kneeling, or crouching
• Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces
• Tolerance to work in hot, cold, or noisy environments
