A scaffolder is a skilled tradesperson who is responsible for erecting and dismantling temporary scaffolding structures used to support workers and materials during construction, maintenance, or repair work on buildings and other large structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding structures following site plans and safety guidelines.
- Measure, cut, and fit scaffold tubes, boards, and fittings.
- Secure scaffolding to buildings or other structures using anchor bolts and ties.
- Inspect scaffolding regularly to ensure safety and stability.
- Load and unload scaffolding materials.
- Work at height using appropriate safety equipment (harnesses, helmets, etc.).
- Coordinate with site supervisors and other trades on job progress.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Physical fitness and ability to work at heights.
- Good hand-eye coordination and balance.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site plans.
