A MIG Welder (Metal Inert Gas Welder) is responsible for fusing metal components together using a gas-shielded arc welding process. The role requires precise handling of welding equipment, reading blueprints, and ensuring the structural integrity and quality of welded materials in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG welding on various metal components based on technical drawings or blueprints
- Set up, operate, and maintain MIG welding equipment and tools
- Inspect materials and finished welds for accuracy, strength, and adherence to specifications
- Prepare and clean welding surfaces to ensure strong welds
- Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective gear at all times
- Work with team members to complete projects and meet deadlines
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment and report malfunctions
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Keep accurate records of work completed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Technical training or welding certification (AWS or equivalent) is a plus
- Proven experience as a MIG welder in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficient with hand tools and measuring devices (e.g., calipers, tape measures)
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to [X] lbs)
