Job Summary:
A Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring all laundry items (such as linens, towels, uniforms, and guest clothing) are cleaned, pressed, and stored properly. This role involves operating washers and dryers, folding and sorting laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and press laundry items according to fabric types and care labels.
- Operate and monitor industrial washing machines and dryers.
- Treat stained or heavily soiled items using appropriate cleaning techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness of laundry area, including equipment and supplies.
- Ensure that laundry supplies (detergents, softeners, etc.) are stocked and report when running low.
- Follow health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Label and log guest or client laundry items, if applicable.
- Deliver cleaned laundry to designated areas (housekeeping, rooms, etc.).
- Report any damaged items or equipment malfunctions to supervisors
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous laundry, housekeeping, or janitorial experience (a plus, but not required).
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and laundry equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Exposure to heat, humidity, and cleaning chemicals.
- May require weekend and holiday shifts.
