Summary:
The Fitter Cum Welder is responsible for reading and interpreting engineering drawings, assembling metal parts, and welding them using appropriate techniques. The role demands precision, technical skills, and a strong understanding of safety practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Mark, cut, and shape metal components using tools such as grinders, gas cutters, and power saws.
- Assemble parts and structures by fitting components according to specifications.
- Weld components using techniques such as MIG, TIG, ARC, or gas welding.
- Inspect welded surfaces and structures to ensure quality and conformity to standards.
- Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other workers to complete projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
- ITI or Diploma in Fitting, Welding, or a related trade.
- Proven experience as a Fitter and/or Welder.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and work with precision tools.
- Strong knowledge of different welding techniques and materials.
- Good physical stamina and attention to detail.
- Understanding of workplace safety regulations.
