Fitter cum Welder

A Fitter Cum Welder is a skilled tradesperson responsible for assembling, installing, and welding metal parts and structures. This role combines the expertise of both fitting and welding, often required in manufacturing, construction, shipbuilding, and heavy engineering industries.

Summary:
The Fitter Cum Welder is responsible for reading and interpreting engineering drawings, assembling metal parts, and welding them using appropriate techniques. The role demands precision, technical skills, and a strong understanding of safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
• Mark, cut, and shape metal components using tools such as grinders, gas cutters, and power saws.
• Assemble parts and structures by fitting components according to specifications.
• Weld components using techniques such as MIG, TIG, ARC, or gas welding.
• Inspect welded surfaces and structures to ensure quality and conformity to standards.
• Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other workers to complete projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

• ITI or Diploma in Fitting, Welding, or a related trade.
• Proven experience as a Fitter and/or Welder.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work with precision tools.
• Strong knowledge of different welding techniques and materials.
• Good physical stamina and attention to detail.
• Understanding of workplace safety regulations.
