The Site Safety and Health Supervisor (SSHS) is responsible for implementing and monitoring the safety and health program on a job site to ensure a safe work environment for all personnel. The SSHS ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. This position plays a key role in hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident prevention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary safety representative at the job site.
- Develop, implement, and enforce the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
- Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of work areas and equipment.
- Identify hazards and implement corrective actions to eliminate or control them.
- Conduct safety orientations and training for new and existing personnel.
- Maintain all required safety documentation including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), training records, inspection logs, and incident reports.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Communicate safety expectations and procedures to subcontractors and enforce compliance.
- Lead daily safety meetings (Toolbox Talks) and coordinate emergency response drills.
- Work closely with project management, field supervisors, and subcontractors to integrate safety into all aspects of site operations.
- Interface with client safety representatives and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Stay updated on changes to OSHA standards and other applicable safety regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of construction or industrial site safety experience.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (required).
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- 3USACE EM
- Strong knowl85-1-1 training and NAVFAC or Army Corps of Engineers project experience (if applicable).edge of OSHA, EPA, and state/local safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple safety priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent certification.
- Experience with federal or government contracts (e.g., military or GSA projects).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Primarily field-based on construction or industrial sites.
- Exposure to various weather conditions, loud environments, and active construction activities.
- Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
