Gypsum Technician Job Description
A Gypsum Technician specializes in the installation, finishing, and repair of gypsum-based materials such as drywall, plasterboard, and ceiling tiles. They work primarily in construction and renovation projects, ensuring smooth, durable surfaces on walls and ceilings that meet quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, and install gypsum boards (drywall) on walls and ceilings according to project specifications.
- Apply joint compounds, tape seams, and sand surfaces to create a smooth finish.
- Repair damaged drywall or plaster surfaces, including patching holes, cracks, and dents.
- Collaborate with contractors, architects, and other construction professionals to meet design and structural requirements.
- Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean work area.
- Inspect completed work for quality assurance and make adjustments as needed.
- Maintain inventory of materials and report needs for supplies.
