Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Lift Maintenance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the routine servicing, repair, troubleshooting, and modernization of elevators (lifts), escalators, and related systems. The role requires a strong technical background in mechanical and electrical systems and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on lifts and escalators.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic lift systems.
  • Carry out emergency call-out services and respond promptly to breakdowns.
  • Replace or repair defective parts using hand tools, power tools, or welding equipment.
  • Conduct safety and performance inspections to ensure compliance with local codes and standards.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
  • Report hazardous conditions or maintenance needs to supervisors immediately.
  • Provide technical support during lift installation, modernization, or refurbishment projects.
  • Maintain good communication with customers and provide clear explanations of issues and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.
  • Proven experience in lift/elevator maintenance, servicing, or installation.
  • Knowledge of lift operating systems, controllers, and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Valid driver’s license (if field work is involved).
  • Familiarity with national lift safety codes and standards (e.g., EN81, ASME A17.1, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lift Technician Certification (such as NVQ Level 3 in Lift Engineering or equivalent).
  • Experience with specific brands like Otis, Schindler, KONE, or Thyssenkrupp.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and digital control systems.

Working Conditions:

  • May require on-call shifts, weekends, or night work.
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • May involve climbing, lifting, or working in high-risk environments (with appropriate safety gear and training).
