HVAC Operator Technician Job Description
Position Overview:
The HVAC Operator Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and comfort in residential, commercial, or industrial environments. This role involves troubleshooting equipment issues, performing routine inspections, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor HVAC systems to maintain desired temperature and air quality levels.
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and necessary repairs on HVAC equipment such as chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, and controls.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions, troubleshoot issues, and execute timely repairs.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
- Follow safety protocols and comply with all relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with facility management and other technicians to ensure efficient operation of HVAC systems.
- Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations related to HVAC systems.
- Manage inventory of parts and supplies required for maintenance and repairs.
- Recommend upgrades or replacements to improve system performance and energy efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an HVAC technician or operator.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, including electrical and mechanical components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Relevant certifications or licenses preferred.
- Good physical condition and ability to work in various environments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
