Fire Alarm & Low Voltage Technician

Job Summary:
The Fire Alarm & Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems and low voltage electrical systems. This role ensures that all systems operate efficiently and comply with safety standards and codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm systems according to manufacturer guidelines and local codes.
• Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm panels, sensors, control units, and related devices.
• Install, program, and maintain low voltage wiring and equipment, including security systems, access control, CCTV, intercoms, and data communications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Perform routine system inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and code compliance.
• Coordinate with contractors, electricians, and inspectors during installation and service.
• Document all work performed, including service reports, test results, and maintenance logs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, fire codes, and company policies.
• Stay updated on new technologies, codes, and industry standards related to fire alarm and low voltage systems.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Technician or Low Voltage Technician.
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems, NFPA codes, and low voltage wiring.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with programming fire alarm panels and security devices.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Relevant certifications (NICET, FCC, or equivalent) preferred.
