BMS Operator Job Description
Position Summary:
A BMS Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and maintaining the Building Management System (BMS) to ensure the efficient and safe operation of building systems such as HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), lighting, fire alarms, security, and other automated processes within commercial, industrial, or residential facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor BMS software and hardware to ensure continuous operation of building systems.
- Adjust and optimize HVAC settings to maintain comfortable environmental conditions and energy efficiency.
- Respond promptly to alarms, faults, and system alerts; troubleshoot and resolve issues or escalate to technical teams as needed.
- Conduct regular system checks and inspections to ensure all equipment connected to the BMS is functioning properly.
- Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams for repairs, upgrades, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of system performance, maintenance activities, and incidents.
- Assist in the commissioning and testing of new building systems integrated into the BMS.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations related to building operations.
- Provide reports on energy usage and system performance to management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems, electrical controls, and building automation.
- Experience with BMS software platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Schneider Electric.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in shifts, including nights and weekends if required.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with technical and non-technical staff.
- Technical diploma or certification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Automation fields preferred.
